Coach Michael Abraham

Michael Abraham, founder and director of Team Concept Basketball, has established himself as one of the preeminent coaches in the country. His career spans nearly 4 decades and includes experience at nearly every level, including youth, high school, college, and professional levels. He is a much-respected talent evaluator and an expert in the challenging and evolving college recruiting environment. His experience spans nearly every state in the country and nearly every country in the world where basketball is played. 


• Head coach of St. Mary’s Academy in 1980 at the age of 20, and won OSAA State Championship in 1984. Michael was the
youngest coach in Oregon history to both win and compete in a basketball state championship game. The program he left behind at St. Mary’s won the next two state championships in 1985 and 1986.

• Coach Michael’s 1984 St. Mary’s team ranked #17 in USA Today National Poll, the first Oregon team ever to be included in the national rankings.

• 1984 “Young American” National Coach of the Year.

• Coached college teams to 9 NCAA tournaments, 6 Sweet Sixteens, 3 Elite Eights, and 2 NCAA Final Fours.

• At Oregon State University (1990-1995), he was instrumental in building the Beavers into a PAC-10 powerhouse and spurring them to 3 consecutive NCAA tournaments, their first such appearances in 13 years.

• Nearly 20 former players have played in the WNBA and ABL. Many more have played professionally overseas.

• Two seasons (2006 & 2007) as an assistant coach with WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks. Working under NBA greats Joe Bryant (Kobe Bryant’s father) and Laker legend Michael Cooper, Coach Michael worked with the world’s best players, including Lisa Leslie, Chamique Holdsclaw and Taj McWilliams Franklin, to name a few.

• One of the top recruiters in the nation. Coached such luminaries as Penny Toler, now General Manager of the Los Angeles Sparks, and 1984 Olympian Cindy Brown.

• Coached numerous USA National team players and NCAA and high school All-Americans.

• Four of the five 2015 OSAA 6A Girls State Tournament All Stars have been trained by Coach Michael.

• Four McDonald’s All-American Players in two years!
